the perks of being a cat flower
The wonderful life of rescue work
by Haven Peschko on 02/15/13Sorry for the delays on updating this website.
Haven here, one of the founders and managers.
To keep updated daily on cats and kittens available through cat haven rescue, please go to facebook.com/cathavenrescue.
We get cats and kittens adopted weekly so we cannot keep up with the website as easily as the facebook. Once we get our 501(c)3 tax-exempt license for our state non-profit we will be able to get grants and actually hire people to do internet stuff, we currently can't even pay our managers. Instead they get a percentage of adoption fee for a cat/kitten they get adopted that they have been fostering. The extra work and fundraising is all for the rescue and out of the kind-ness of their hearts, and with the percentage of adoption fees the managers usually end up spending it on cat supplies for the rescue ugh! it's a poor life but rewarding in other ways >^..^< meowsers.
Thing is most of the managers are in their 20's and have other jobs or school and cannot devote 100% of their time to the rescue. We somehow have still managed to save 350+ cats and kittens in 11 months! over 150+ from Bastrop Shelter alone!
We currently don't know much about tax language but we are sure we qualify for the tax exempt status. We are all busy with our part-time jobs to make our own rent currently we can't devote a ton of time trying to figure it out but it's something we desperately need to be able to continue to grow and move forward. all and any help is much appreciated :)
Currently, if you are looking for an older kitten or cat, please contact us!

Haven and Chris do most intakes. please call them if you have found kittens or have some kittens you need to rehome. We can also help you get your cat fixed if money or transportation is the issue, etc. we are currently accepting kittens under 10 weeks for no intake fee, but accepting kittens 10-12 weeks as well and are open to older kittens depending on the situation. Older kittens and adult cats we expect a donation but sometimes can work around it, it just costs us a lot more because we have them much longer than younger kittens (which is most of the rescues we have, baby kittens, so an adult or older kitten has a disadvantage in our rescue unfortunately.. we are 100% no kill though!)
